Flour has proven to be a source of food for all of us. As flour is an energy-giving food — carbohydrates, and protein are derived from it as well.

For those who do not know how to cook pancakes, and want to try it out someday, you will learn certain things in this writing as you read on. What are the things you will need to make it? What cooking method should be applied? What preparation should you make prior to making pancakes?

There is something you must know when making this dish, which is, the experience is full of fun. Is not something you can master at-a-go; It has to be continual practice to become a pancake chef.

You should learn to get the consistency right in the mixture, and also master the temperature at which to cook the mixture. Two major things to look out for in cooking pancakes are mixture and stove/cooker temperature regulations.

If you can master these two things, you will make excellent pancakes.

Pancake Mixture/Batter:

If you have a thermometer, and you use a pan – you can use it to check for temperature level.

Recipe: plain flour – 100 gm

               granulated sugar – 2 tablespoon

               milk – 300 ml

              baking powder – 2 teaspoon

               egg – 2

              salt – ½ teaspoon

              vegetable oil – 1 tablespoon

Method: combine all ingredients together in a stainless bowl using a whisk to mix. As stated above, the batter should be set aside to rest for over 30 minutes or more.

Put the pan on the burner/stove, and allow it to heat up. Add a little oil to the pan, and wipe the surface of the pan with oiled kitchen paper.

Use a ladle to scoop the mixture from the bowl and pour it into the pan. When you notice the mixture is about to bubble, use the spatula to lift the edge of the pancake to ascertain the level of brownness; when you notice that it is brown enough, flip on the other side to cook.

This procedure will be the same when using the griddle.
