Grooming: This has to do with personal hygiene – keeping a beard shaved or trimmed is necessary for those working in the food industry. This also includes trimming of nails. Caterers should look clean and presentable at all times.

Hand Wash: Whenever we step out of the kitchen to the convenience, and return to our duty place, our hands should be washed.

Disposable Gloves: This item should be used anytime required when we want to handle food.

Work/Chef Clothing: Work clothes for chefs are not all about the feel and presentation that we get from them, we get protection from the clothes as well. They should be kept neat every time. Clothing is a part of personal hygiene. It is advised to have two pairs of uniforms in other to maintain them conveniently. Aprons should be neat at all times. It is advised to have two pairs of them as well. Chef’s hat should be sparkling clean as well, it is also advised to have two pairs of them.

Hand Towel: Personal hygiene is important to practice because of its relation to food handling. Chefs should have a hand towel with them in the event of sweat that emanates from their faces during their work moments in the kitchen.

Heat/Smoke Expeler: Activities in commercial kitchens are all about food production, and food production involves food handling. Cooking activities within the kitchen generate heat and smoke. For kitchen staff to have some convenience or comfort within their work setting, it is a must to have smoke/heat expellers installed in the building.
